Graves, Robert - The Golden Fleece (Published in by The Folio Society in 2003. Introduction by Lawrence Norfolk. Colour plates by Grahame Baker. Maps redrawn from the original edition by Reginald Piggott. THE GOLDEN FLEECE was first published by Cassell And Company Ltd. in October 1944. Graves wrote it between November 1943 and July 1944. This narrative represents something of a pinnacle to Graves' writing, coming about thirty years after the World War I experiences that had so thoroughly influenced his work. THE GOLDEN FLEECE is the result both of his life-long immersion in Greek mythology and his own traumatic war experience. The result is a brilliant narrative. Front endpaper map , Outward Voyage Of The Argo. Back endpaper map , Homeward Voyage Of The Argo. Map of Greece showing Jason's journey following page 60. A Geneological Table , The Stem Of The Aeolians, is very useful. Baker's colour plates are spectacular. Illustrated by Grahame Baker. )
