Waugh, Evelyn - Vile Bodies (Published in by The Folio Society in 2015. Quarter-bound in cloth with Modigliani paper sides, printed with a design by Kate Baylay. Set in Perpetua with Anna display. 232 pages. Colour frontispiece and 7 integrated black & white illustrations. 9.5" x 6.25". Counting Stephen Fry, David Bowie and V. S. Pritchett among its ardent admirers, this inventive satire depicts the 'Bright Young Things' of 1920s Mayfair, a group to which the author himself belonged. These bohemian socialites lived in a whirlwind of drug-fuelled parties, extravagant practical jokes and shallow romances, outraging their elders and delighting the tabloid press. In his introduction to this edition, the acclaimed author David Lodge explores his 'favourite' Waugh novel and the author's mastery of dark comedy. Also featured are a series of alluring illustrations by Kate Baylay which complement her vivid binding design. )
