Published in London by Folio Society. 2004. First Thus. Fine Hardback. No inscriptions or bookplates. Near Fine solander box. Slight marks to front panel of solander box. Originally published in 1485 by William Caxton, this facsimile edition is a reproduction of the third Dent edition with the omission of certain preliminary material replaced by the accompanying essay by Anthony S. G. Edwards. With modern spelling and embellished with many original designs throughout by Aubrey Beardsley. Limited edition number 828 of 1020 copies, bound in full Nigerian goatskin, with handmade laid endpapers fom the Fabrino Mill, Italy and printed by The Bath Press on Camelot Laid paper, specially made for this edition. Gilt embossed lettering to the spine and gilt embossed binding design redrawn by Frances Button from the 1927 edition. Silk page divider attached at the head of the spine. All edges gilt. Comes in a black solander box, with gilt embosed lettering down the length of the spine. Contains a 14pp booklet entitled 'Thomas Malory, the Morte Darthur and Aubrey Beardsley', being an essay by Anthony S. G. Edwards. Illustrated by Aubrey Beardsley.
